The one star is for the one employee who was actually helpful, the rest of it was a pretty disheartening experience.

Brought in some neatly folded and carefully chosen clothes, it's evident they only glanced at it and didn't actually look through it. From the time we walked in, apart from the one nice employee, they had a kind of mean and dismissive attitude. Personally more confusing than that is what they chose to buy.

Like other reviewers have said, they seem to prefer fast fashion. I just moved and had clothes I could sell on depop but brought them here because I wanted to be more time efficient. But instead of buying items in really good condition from slow fashion/indie labels (e.g. Rachel Antonoff, Dusen Dusen, Selkie, Lorien Stern), high quality things (e.g. Neiman Marcus cashmere and J. Crew), and in-demand vintage stuff in good condition (e.g. early 2000s Topshop, Beyonce tour shirts, some MOMA/IDEA print t-shirts), they took a few items sitting on top, including a Forever 21 shirt?

Maybe I'm just out of touch but I was confused by this.

The buyers have a mean-girl attitude. The manager (?) was kind. The vibe was so off I didn't even want to shop in there, but glancing at the racks, it didn't look very promising. Honestly they saved me from myself because I came home and looked on eBay and other resale websites and realised I could do far better.

Don’t go here! I went here to get rid of some of my clothing that I didn’t have a use for while I was waiting I was looking at some clothing in the store and I found multiple items with huge holes and tons of clothes with stains.And when I went to pick up my clothes they didn’t want to make a offer. These clothes had been never worn and were brand new don’t go here you will waste your time!!!

Go to Buffalo Exchange instead. They're more willing to evaluate your items and are more in tune with the market for resale. As a result they have better stuff and a better selection. I've regularly encountered unfriendly and unhelpful staff at Plato's Closest, to the point where I asked myself why I keep going in. (The answer is because it's right next to Trader Joe's where I go for groceries!)

Downright rude employees turned me away because they’re at “buying capacity.” Gave me a ton of attitude when I asked them to explain them what that meant.
Also, how is a store that’s marketed as always buying clothes at purchasing capacity? Sounds like they’re overbuying the wrong stuff.
The racks had nothing of interest in the men’s section, honestly it was totally sad.

After a mistake from another employee, Paris helped SO much!

He took the time to explain the policy to us. Signage around the store was not updated, so we made purchases not knowing we could not return and get our money back. He was truly so helpful and did his best to make us happy customers 🙂 We would return simply for his customer service.

There were so many nice pieces, Plato's Closet is my go-to for trendy, affordable fashion finds! The selection is always on point, and I love how easy it is to sell my gently used items for cash or store credit. The staff is friendly and helpful, making the shopping experience enjoyable every time. Highly recommend!

The last couple of times I’ve come to this Plato’s (with my baby in the stroller- a pain with parking, iykyk) I’ve been turned away, not taking donations at this time. This time, thankfully they accepted my clothes and told me it’d take around 30 minutes. Ok, I decided to wait because parking is so bad. A lady checked me in and had a guy with her in training. I saw him going through my clothes shortly after I was there but then he left for his break so I assumed my items were not done, the girl that checked me in continued checking people out and paying out folks, she saw me waiting on the front bench of the store after I browsed. As I was waiting a lady working there answered the phone and had an attitude about someone asking if they were accepting donations, she got snappy and said they do every day they’re open, not true but anywho I minded my business but thought wow, she seemed very unfriendly even before the call and never asked if I needed help or anything as I waited there for TWO HOURS. I see a new gentleman clock in and start going through clothes that arrived long after mine, so I then decided to ask him if I will receive a text when my items are done as I did when I checked in, he said yes and I told him I’d been waiting 2 hours and didn’t want to bother them because the chic that checked me in saw me waiting and they were telling people there’s others in line and their estimated time, I remained patient. I told him my name and he goes oh, your items have been done..he was nice but long story short, this was a very frustrating experience. Overall the staff seemed very unfriendly and unhelpful, the items on display are WAY overpriced, and you don’t get close to the amount they sell for. I will not be back.
